2004 PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation Awards Dinner to be Held Oct. 21 in Chicago
Chicago, 17/9/2004

Record Student Applications for Expanded Foundations Grants, and New Donor Opportunities, Promise Exciting Event

With a growing list of recipients, and an even faster-growing list of applicants, the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation, its Board of Directors and especially its Academic Committee, have their hands full. Each year not only the quantity of applications increases, but so does the quality of our Greek-American students who apply; this year weve received materials from a record number of students, all of them outstanding scholars, said Dr. George Alexopoulos, Chairman of the Committee. Its especially true since we expanded the scope of the Foundation last year, and were accepted by scholarships.com, the premier student aid website, added businessman and philanthropist Chris P. Tomaras, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Foundation. Offering our Grants in the amount of $10,000 each this year means we are always in need of donors.

This year also represents the first time the Foundation is offering potential donors the opportunity to endow a Scholarship bearing the name of their own choice. Every donation is welcome, regardless of the amount, continued Tomaras, but our $10,000 Named Scholarships are a unique opportunity to remember a parent or loved one, or create additional awareness and goodwill for ones business. With the end of the tax year approaching, I encourage those interested to call me directly for details on these tax-deductible donations.

The Foundations 2004 Awards Dinner will be held on Thursday evening, Oct. 21, at the Rosewood Restaurant and Banquets near Chicagos OHare Airport. Tickets are $50 per person, with tables of eight; reservations can be made by calling Elaine Sotos at 312.357.0027.

Originally founded as the Pan-Messinian Scholarship Foundation, its name was changed in 2003 to reflect the eligibility of all Greek-American high school graduates across the nation.
