SAE PRESIDENT CONGRATULATES GREEK NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE EUROPEAN CUP
Thessaloniki, 5/7/2004

The President of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE), Mr. Andrew A. Athens, congratulated from Moscow where he participated at the events for the welcoming of the Olympic Flame and the conclusion of SAE�s Teach Olympics program the Greek National Football Team for its unbelievable victory at the finals of EURO 2004.

�On behalf of the SAE Board and all Hellenes around the world, I would like to express my deepest congratulations to the Greek National Football Team that made us all proud�, Mr. Athens said. �In the hearts of all Hellenes the players of our National Team had been winners from the beginning of this tournament. With their modesty and endless strength, and under the guidance of their most capable coach, Otto Rehagel all players made all our dreams come true. The enthusiastic participation of all Hellenes all over the world at the celebrations after each game, and especially the thousands of young Hellenes in every country, prove that Greece is in our hearts and minds wherever we are.

This great victory of our National Team showed that Hellenism can be an equal participant and play a leading role in sports, culture, science and all other areas. We are expecting to experience similar feelings of joy and pride at the Athens Olympic Games this summer and to prove that our homeland has both the ability and strength to undertake and organize safe and very successful events.�
