N. & S. AMERICA REGION
"Experience of a lifetime" just for subscribing to World Council of Hellenes` free " AMERICAS" online e-magazine
Chicago, Illinois , 14/6/2004

Anna Maria H. Saropoulos of Mass. winner of N. & S. America`s "Trip for 2 to Athens 2004 Olympics"

The Olympic Games are going home to Greece this August. So was everyone in Anna Marias family. Everyone, that is, except her. But with the initial winner announced by , Canadas John Peterson, unable to use the prize of a trip for 2 to the 2004 Olympics in Athens, the entire Saropoulos family will now be able to celebrate what Anna Maria describes as an experience of a lifetime all together in Greece. "Like many in the Greek community, I was excited that the Olympics were returning to their birthplace, but I didn`t think I`d be able to be therenow I can!" Saropoulos was among the many thousands who had registered to receive " AMERICAS" magazine on the organizations www.saeamerica.org web site and who opted to enter the "2004 Olympics Trip" Drawing as well.

"In addition to being very happy that a Hellene from our Region will now be able to join the rest of her family and share this historic event together, there was also another reason for our having such a Drawing. And that was to increase awareness for our work through our " AMERICAS" magazine among the grass-roots of our communities and improve Œs communication with them," said Chris P. Tomaras, V.P. and Regional Coordinator for N. & S. America. "In this we have been very, very successful increasing our circulation by more than 500% as a result of this Drawing!"

Each subscriber to `s free online e-magazine had the option of also entering the Drawing by accepting the Official Rules posted on the Website. Immediately after the midnight May 15 deadline, `s Webmaster certified and forwarded the Drawing database, copies of which were received by and the CPA firm of Altschuler, Melvoin & Glasser (AM&G;), a unit of American Express Tax and Business Services Inc. AM&G;, whose clients include the Illinois State Lottery, was retained by to supervise the Drawing. Using a random-number program by RandomWareO, fifteen numbers were generated in the presence of AM&G;, PanMessenian Federations Tom Sotiropoulos, community representatives and the staff of " AMERICAS" magazine. Chicago`s "Hellenic Heartbeat" TV program also recorded the Drawing for subsequent broadcast.

The Drawing prize includes round-trip air transportation from New York to Athens for two, a double-occupancy room for 18 nights at an apartment in the affluent Athens suburb of Kifissia with convenient access to the Athens Olympic Complex and the entire area via the citys new "Metro" subway system, and two tickets to the Opening Ceremonies of the 2004 Games on August 13...two of the hottest tickets in the world.

Founded at the initiative of the Hellenic Republic in 1995, the World Council of Hellenes represents the 7 million Hellenes of the Diaspora, serving as a coordinating "umbrella" for organizations such as the AHEPA, the Greek Orthodox Church, and numerous Federations.
