New SAE office in Brussel
Chicago, 24/11/1999
The President of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad, Mr. Andrew A. Athens, is issuing a number of brief updates to keep you abreast on the latest developments on SAEs major projects.
Dear Friends,
I am happy to inform you that the new SAE office in Brussels has already been inaugurated.
As of October 21, SAE has a permanent presence near the European Union`s headquarters. This is an event of utmost importance. Through this office, we now have the opportunity to inform the leadership of EU and also be informed about EU programs that may benefit SAE projects.
As you know, Greece is an EU member-state and there are hundreds of thousands of Apodoimoi who live in EU and other European countries. The Union also constitutes a link to the rest of the world and plays an important role on the political, economic and cultural international stage. We expect that we will be able to attract EU`s attention to the SAE projects such as those benefiting Hellenes in Albania and the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union.
During the inauguration ceremony in Brussels, among the official guests were representatives from the Hellenic delegation to EU, various social and religious organizations and heads of diplomatic missions from 15 foreign countries. Their presence speaks for their strong interest in this new center of SAE activities.
For more information, please call SAE`s press office in Chicago, at 312/ 782-2704.
Sincerely,
Andrew A. Athens
President of World Council of Hellenes Abroad
