ALTERNATE PRESIDENT
Tamvakis` Meetings in Athens
Athens, 29/6/2004

SAE Alternate President, Mr. Stefanos P. Tamvakis met on June 29 with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Panayiotis Skandalakis in Athens. During their meeting, Mr. Tamvakis updated the Deputy Minister on the meetings he had during his recent visti to South Africa. Mr. Tamvakis focused on the excellent cooperation among the Church the Communities and SAE and the willingness of distinguished Hellenes of the area to support humanitarian initiatives. Mr. Tamvakis also conveyed to the political leadership the current problems faced by Hellenes in South Africa and at the same time he proposed ways for their solution.

Yesterday Mr. Tamvakis met with the General Secretary of Youth, Ms. Vaso Kollia and discussed ways of cooperation among the General Secretariat of Youth and SAE Youth Network. Mr. Tamvakis mentioned that Hellene Youth Abroad should participate at the various programs and projects and should be considered as a part of Greek youth. The General Secretary expressed her full support to SAE`s efforts.

Mr. Tamvakis also met with the Directors and administrative staff of the General Secretariat of Greeks Abroad where he was updated on the latest developments on issues regarding Hellenism of the Diaspora.

On July 3 SAE Alternate President will travel to Thessaloniki where he will attend the meeting of the SAE Europe Coordinating Council, following the invitation of SAE Vice-President, Coordinator for Europe, Mr. Angelo Aslanidis.
