SAE Vice-President, Coordinator for Europe Region, Mr. Angelo Aslanidis met with the General Secretary of the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs, Professor Andreas Karamanos.
During the meeting Mr. Aslanidis informed the General Secretary of the positions of the SAE Europe Coordinating Council and requested the beginning of an open discussion with the Hellenic Associations in the European Union for the upgrading of the Hellenic Education.
Especially for Hellenes in the countries of the Black Sea, Mr. Aslanidis requested that the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs undertake the following:
a. Training of Hellene teachers of the Greek Language as a foreign language with a monthly remuneration of �80.
b. The creation of libraries at schools where the Greek Language is taught through the offer of books and other educational material.
c. The creation of examination centers for the acquisition of a diploma of the Greek Language in areas where there is a large number of Hellenes.
d. To send a scientific advisor to Mariupol to coordinate Greek courses and assist Hellene teachers.
e. To support the �Olympiads of the Greek Language�, a program created by the World Council of Hellenes Abroad.
The General Secretary thanked the World Council of Hellenes Abroad for its efforts on educational issues and promised to support all above mentioned issues.
