MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENTS OF HELLENIC ASSOCIATIONS OF THE AZOFIKA

On October 7, 2004 SAE Vice-President, Coordinator for Europe Region, Mr. Angelo Aslanidis invited all Presidents of Hellenic Associations of the Azofika to attend a meeting in Mariupol.
The meeting focused on the following issues:
1. The improvement of the quality of teaching of the Greek language in Ukraine, through the training and hiring of Hellene teachers abroad by the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs.
2. Organizing of cultural events by Greek agencies that will visit Ukraine.
3. Funding for the promotion of Hellenic Culture in Azofika.
4. Enabling of the Law 2790/ 2000 regarding the awarding of a special identity for the Omogeneia.
5. Formation of committees for the recording and awarding of these special identities for the Omogeneia and/ or for repatriated Hellenes.
6. Replies to be sent to all those Hellenes who have submitted the necessary documentation at the Hellenic Consulate of Mariupol in order to acquire the Special Identity Card for the Omogeneia.
7. Operation of Youth Hospitality Programs.
8. Request for a special hospitality program for elderly Hellenes in Greece.
9. Humanitarian assistance from Greece and Cyprus for the poor Hellenic families at the Black Sea.
