SAE President expresses deep sorrow for the passing of John Economy
Chicago, 7/1/2005

Personally, and also on behalf of the World Council of Hellenes (SAE), I express our deep sorrow for the death of John Economy to his family and to the AHEPA organization which he had served as the Supreme President.

Hellenism worldwide has lost one of its great leaders.  I have known Mr. Economy for many years and his reputation as a model family man, successful businessman and an active Hellene sets a very high standard for all of us. His passion for Hellenic issues and strong relations between Greece and the U.S. promoted both causes in organized Omogeneia and in personal relationships. Mr. Economy, with whom I had the opportunity to work and develop a friendship, believed in the importance of unity among Hellenes in order to be successful in our community endeavors. He practiced this unity and understanding of others during his tenure as Supreme President of AHEPA.

Mr. Economys broad smile and the warmth of his personality will remain vivid in our memory and our hearts.

Andrew A. Athens
President
