PRESIDENT'S OFFICE
Press Release
Chicago, 10/4/2005

Andrew A. Athens, President of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) issued the following statement regarding the proposal on FYROMs name:
The perspective of the beginning of a new negotiation process with FYROM on the important issue of its name, gives us hopes that we may be led to a mutually accepted solution that will respect the historic truths and will contribute to the establishment of peace and security for the Balkans.
The Omogeneia has always supported any effort of Greece for the promotion of just solutions to National Issues to the benefit of our homeland, and now for once more should support this effort and contribute to the promotion of a productive process.
I would like to express my full confidence in the way Greek political leadership handles this crucial issue, hoping that the decision of Greece on this matter will have the support of the Hellenic organizations and especially of the Pan-Macedonian associations, which in unity and cooperation with the Greek Government and SAE make all efforts to show to the international community that it should give the necessary attention and respect to the Hellenic positions on this issue.
