CHICAGO, IL,  July 6, 2005 οΏ½  οΏ½It may be mid-winter in South America right now, but the turnouts at our οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½ Town Hall MeetingsοΏ½ in Chile (160) and Argentina (190) were among the highest anywhere in The Americas so far,οΏ½ said V.P. and Regional Coordinator Chris P. Tomaras. οΏ½Another encouraging sign is the large number of young people who attended the Meetings. Our Regional Coordinating Council member Eduardo Karavias, who organized the Meetings with the local omogenia leadership, translated our presentation into Spanish and conducted the Meetings, is to be both thanked and congratulated!οΏ½ 

Fulfilling οΏ½οΏ½Ε’s Mission to serve as a two-way conduit for communication between the Hellenes of the Diaspora and the Hellenic Republic, our Region began this series of informal οΏ½Town Hall MeetingsοΏ½ on April 15 in Los Angeles.     οΏ½With the cooperation of our Metropolitans,their Parishes, GreeceοΏ½s Consuls General, as well as our member-Federations and organizations, fourteen of these Meetings have been held, and seven more are scheduled for the months ahead, bringing the total to twenty-one!οΏ½
 
οΏ½ItοΏ½s clear our people, North and South, have a number of questions regarding the Hellenic RepublicοΏ½s new laws and regulations, especially the new οΏ½E9οΏ½ real property registration that everyone who owns real estate in Greece must file this year, no matter where they live,οΏ½ continued Tomaras.  οΏ½But as a result of everyoneοΏ½s cooperation, our οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½ Town Hall MeetingsοΏ½ and interviews in various cities have reached thousands with the answersοΏ½the many calls and letters weοΏ½ve received say just how much this effort was appreciated.  That, along with seeing and hearing the future of Hellenism firsthand, is what makes this special outreach all worthwhile for us at οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½.οΏ½
