SAE Oceania updates readers on the following: -

1. οΏ½E9οΏ½. The requirement to lodge this form has been extended to 30 November 2005 for all Hellenes abroad who own or have an interest in any type of real estate in Hellas. It should be noted, however, that this applies to persons who do NOT receive income from their property. For persons who do receive an income from their property they must lodge the οΏ½E1οΏ½ (income tax return) by 15 July 2005. Failure to lodge either or both returns within the prescribed time limits will attract a fine. Persons who have a tax file number (may lodge both returns electronically. 2. Following on the recent meeting held with Foreign Minister Alexander Downer organised by the AHC, Mr Downer has strengthened the directive to Australians contemplating the purchase of property in occupied Cyprus. Australians are now warned to obtain independent legal advice and that any purchase they make may be challenged by the Republic of Cyprus.
3. There are very limited places for the Youth Filoxenia programmes remaining. There are still openings for the seniors programme (men over 65 and women over 60).
