Andrew A. Athens, World SAE President and UHAC National Chairman, begins today a visit to the Republic of Cyprus as part of the entourage of Archbishop Demetrios of America who is in a week-long official visit to the island nation.

As part of the ArchbishopοΏ½s schedule are visits to the Cathedral of St. John in Lefkosia (Nicosia), meetings with the Archbishop and the Metropolitans in Cyprus, President Tassos Papadopoulos, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Education and Culture, and Justice and Public Order, and to the U.S. and Greek Ambassadors. The group will also visit philanthropic and educational institutions, mayors, and the Green Line.  They will lay a wreath at the Tomb of Ethnarch Makarios 3rd  and at the οΏ½Imprisoned TombsοΏ½ in Lefkosia.

οΏ½His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios is continuing the vital role of the Church of America in the issues that concern Hellenism worldwide,οΏ½ Mr. Athens said. οΏ½We cannot forget that our organized activities to achieve justice for Cyprus in the U.S. were launched 30 years ago by the late Archbishop Iakovos.
