As part of the Archbishops schedule are visits to the Cathedral of St. John in Lefkosia (Nicosia), meetings with the Archbishop and the Metropolitans in Cyprus, President Tassos Papadopoulos, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Education and Culture, and Justice and Public Order, and to the U.S. and Greek Ambassadors. The group will also visit philanthropic and educational institutions, mayors, and the Green Line. His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios is continuing the vital role of the Church of America in the issues that concern Hellenism worldwide, Mr. Athens said. We cannot forget that our organized activities to achieve justice for Cyprus in the U.S. were launched 30 years ago by the late Archbishop Iakovos.
This visit by Archbishop Demetrios is of great importance, both symbolic and practical. In this fashion, under strong and decisive leadership, Hellenes will maintain our unity until the day arrives when we see the fulfillment of our just goals.
