PRESIDENT'S OFFICE
MESSAGE by SAE President Andrew A. Athens for the 32nd Anniversary of the Invasion in Cyprus
Chicago, 18/7/2006

With feelings of veneration and a sense of duty, worldwide Hellenism will condemn on July 20 the anniversary of the invasion in Cyprus.
For thirty two consecutive years Hellenic organizations around the world and especially those in the important decision centers, continue with consistency and by any legal mean to support the efforts of both governments of Greece and Cyprus in order to reach a justified and viable solution for Cyprus based on the principles of International Law. Considering the European identity of the Republic of Cyprus such a solution will put the grounds for a safe and peaceful environment for both Greek and Turkish Cypriots.
The World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) in cooperation with the World Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA), the World Federation of Cypriots (POMAK) and the National Coordinated Effort of Hellenes (CEH), continues its efforts for a solution.
We expect that soon the necessary conditions will be created in order for the effects caused by the occupation and bisection of Cyprus to end. Only in unity we will be able to achieve our common goals, hoping that this day is not far.
