The President of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad honored by the Patriarch of Jerusalem

The President of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad, Mr. Andrew A. Athens was awarded by the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Mr. Eirinaios the Grand Cross of the Order of Orthodox Crusaders of the Holy Sepulcher, honoring his major offer to the Patriarchate. The awarding took place at the Holy Sepucher during Mr. Athens visit to Jerusalem following the official recognition of the Patriarch of Jerusalem by the Israeli Government.
The Greek Ambassador, Mr. Panayiotis Zografos and the responsible of the Jewish Council in Jerusalem, Mr. Rosen, two people who contributed the most to the promotion of the request for the official recognition of the Patriarch, also attended the awarding ceremony.
Mr. Eirinaios expressed to Mr. Athens his gratitude for the initiatives taken by Mr. Athens, the National Coordinated Effort of Hellenes (CEH), Jewish organizations in the US and Greece and the Greek Government, towards his official recognition by Israel.
"We are very happy for the positive outcome of all our efforts regarding the official recognition of the Patriarch of Jerusalem", Mr. Athens said. "Our coordinated efforts with the support of SAE Board, prove our unity and strong bonds we have developed with other Diaspora organizations, such is the American Jewish Committee.
We will continue our efforts for the support of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, committed to our promise to work together for the promotion and progress of Hellenism and Orthodoxy".
Mr. Athens announced that he will again visit Jerusalem on March, accompanied by the Director of SAE's Medical Program, in order to present a complete proposal for the establishment of a SAE Medical Center in the Patriarchate so as to offer medical care to all Orthodox people of the area.
