CHICAGO, January 19 � Cypriot Ambassador to the U.S. Euripides L. Evriviades on Friday, Feb. 3, will be the featured speaker at an exclusive Chicago Council on Foreign Relations luncheon that has been co-sponsored by the United Hellenic American Congress (UHAC).
In his first visit to the Midwest, Mr. Evriviades will speak on �Cyprus in the European Union: Prospects for Reunification, Peace with Turkey, and Regional Stability,� at a luncheon organized by the Chairman�s Circle and the President�s Circle of CCFR.
�This will be an excellent opportunity to educate the public on the issues affecting Cyprus and the entire Balkan area,� said Andrew A. Athens, National Chairman of UHAC. �It promises to be a very interesting and stimulating speech, and I urge all Hellenes and the general community to participate.�

Ambassador Evriviades, who is also the high commissioner of Cyprus to Canada, previously served as an ambassador to the Netherlands and to Israel, and held positions in embassies in Libya, Russia, Germany and the United Nations. He holds degrees from Harvard University and from the University of New Hampshire. He is the recipient of many honors including the Martin Luther King Award for International Service which he received earlier this month.
During his Chicago visit, Ambassador Evriviades will also be a special guest at the annual dinner-dance of the Cypriot-American Society on Saturday, Feb. 4.
