SUBJECT: HOSPITALITY PROGRAMS FOR HELLENES AT THE CAMPSITES OF THE GGAE

Hospitality Program for Hellene Children of the Diaspora at the Campsites of the GGAE- July-August 2006

The General Secretariat of Greeks Abroad organizes the Hospitality Program for Hellene Children of the Diaspora at Campsites in order to strengthen and preserve their relations with the homeland and to enhance their national and cultural inheritance.

The program will take place at the GGAEοΏ½s Campsites on the following periods:

Period AοΏ½: Malesina, Fthiotida from July 10 to July 29, 2006
Period BοΏ½: Malesina, Fthiotida from August 1 to August 20, 2006
Period AοΏ½: Epanomi, Thessaloniki from July 10 to July 29, 2006
Period BοΏ½: Epanomi, Thessaloniki from August 1 to August 20, 2006

Who are entitled to participate:
Children of Hellenic origin that fulfill the following criteria are entitled to participate at the program:
-At least one of their parents is of Hellenic origin.
-They are from 8-12 years old (born from 10/8/1994 to 10/8/1998).
-Preferably they have not participated at a similar program in the past.
-According to their parentοΏ½s judgment they can be part of the camp life.
-Their parents are not Public Servants Abroad (the children whose parents have been hired locally are exempted), and they are not permanent residents abroad.

Expenses:
The travel expenses (from the points determined by the GGAE) to and from Greece as well as their stay, feeding, educational and cultural programs, excursions, etc. are fully covered by the GGAE.

Selection Process:
The gathering of all applications will be done by the local Hellenic Diplomatic Offices, where the applications will be assessed (by priority) and then will be sent to the GGAE.

Procedure and Deadline for Applications:
The parents of the children should come in contact with the Embassy or the Consulate of their area, where they will be informed regarding the conditions and rules of participation that are mentioned in the present announcement, they will fill out all necessary forms, i.e. the APPLICATION and the questionnaire regarding HEALTH ISSUES that will be submitted along with a DOCTORοΏ½S DOCUMENT (regarding the good physical and psychological health of the child as well as the ability of the child to participate at athletic activities). Applications that lack one of the above mentioned documents will be rejected. The application and any authorizations should be signed by both parents or in cases of divorce, by the parent who has the custody of the child.

The last day for the submission of the applications at Embassies and Consulates is the 12th of May, 2006.

Transportation:
The transportation of children will be done in groups, accompanied by a member of the staff of the GGAE, in case the number of children is at least 5.

We should mention that booking of seats and the dates of arrivals and departures are exclusively decided by the GGAE and cannot be changed.

The Program includes:
-Greek Language, history and mythology lessons
-Excursions and visits to historical, archeological sights and museums
-Teaching of traditional songs, dances and theater
-Swimming
-Sports, painting and arts & crafts
