The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation will award more than $100,000 in grants to Greek American students at a Gala dinner Saturday, Oct. 14, that will make all Hellenes be proud of the high caliber of the students and their stories of success, announced Chris P. Tomaras, foundation chairman.
We will be touched by the stories of success and courage of our students and we will enjoy the music of a top-flight entertainer from Greece, Petros Gaitanos, Mr. Tomaras said.
The inspiring stories describe the success of Hellenes such as Dr. Constantine Papadakis, president of Drexel University, who won the 2006 Paradigm Award for setting a stellar example, and also the high caliber of the students who won scholarships worth $10,000 each. More than 10 such scholarships are expected to be given this year.
These scholarships provide substantial aid to worthy students and we wish to encourage the excellent work of the foundation, said John Apostolou, chairman of the Advisory Board. We will continue our support because the caliber of the students is consistently high.
The Gala Dinner will take place at the prestige University Club of Chicago, Monroe and Michigan Avenues, Chicago. On Saturday, Oct. 14, reception will begin at 7 p.m. in the Library Hall. Dinner at 8 p.m. in the Cathedral Hall.
