| World Council of Hellenes Abroad |
The World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) is a world, autonomous, non-governmental organization that unites Hellenes and Philhellenes, with its headquarters in Thessaloniki, Greece.
SAE was created in 1995 by a Presidential Decree of the Hellenic Republic and serves as the advisory and consultative body to the Hellenic Republic on all matters of interest to Hellenes Abroad. On November 1999 the Presidential Decree was amended and was included in Article 108 of the Constitution as the official body for the representation of the Omogeneia at the Hellenic State.
Members of SAE are the representatives of the Hellenic organizations abroad, who meet biannually in Thessaloniki and elect an 11-member Board. The Board consists of a President, an Alternate President, four Vice-Presidents/ Regional Coordinators, one Vice-President for Cyprus Issues, one Treasurer and three Secretaries.
SAE is divided geographically in four Regions:
1. N. & S. America
2. Europe- Includes the countries of the Black Sea
3. Oceania
4. Asia-Africa
SAE has also created the following five Networks:
1. Business
2. Scientists
3. Culture
4. Women
5. Youth
