A Sea of HopeοΏ½

When tsunami stroke, a friend of mine measured the distance to see where the wave would stop if it ever hit Thessaloniki. It would reach Egnatia street she saidοΏ½a few meters from her houseοΏ½

I donοΏ½t like the fact that suddenly I have to live with the agony of a tsunami. I donοΏ½t like to watch all these scenesοΏ½people struggling with waves, children looking in remains for a doll, a toy, a parent.

I donοΏ½t like all these people who say that nature or God punished usοΏ½I donοΏ½t want to believe that either nature or God would ever punish in such a cruel way a whole generation!

I watched a girl who eight days after the tsunami, the only thing she says again and again is just her nameοΏ½I watched a child looking with its parents in the mud to find anything that will remind them of their homeοΏ½and the child smiled.  I liked this smileοΏ½

I liked the fact that all people around the world decided to οΏ½adoptοΏ½ the countries destroyed, the people, the thousands of childrenοΏ½

I like it that Hellenes from all over the world gathered in just a few hours almost 5 million Euros for those who even now that the sea is calm, are still struggling with the wavesοΏ½

To all those therefore who every second fight for whatever we take for grantedοΏ½to all those people for whom nothing will be the same anymoreοΏ½let us give them a piece of our hopeοΏ½
