A Sea of Hope
When tsunami stroke, a friend of mine measured the distance to see where the wave would stop if it ever hit Thessaloniki. It would reach Egnatia street she saida few meters from her house
I dont like the fact that suddenly I have to live with the agony of a tsunami. I dont like to watch all these scenespeople struggling with waves, children looking in remains for a doll, a toy, a parent.
I dont like all these people who say that nature or God punished usI dont want to believe that either nature or God would ever punish in such a cruel way a whole generation!
I watched a girl who eight days after the tsunami, the only thing she says again and again is just her nameI watched a child looking with its parents in the mud to find anything that will remind them of their homeand the child smiled. I liked this smile
I liked the fact that all people around the world decided to adopt the countries destroyed, the people, the thousands of children
I like it that Hellenes from all over the world gathered in just a few hours almost 5 million Euros for those who even now that the sea is calm, are still struggling with the waves
To all those therefore who every second fight for whatever we take for grantedto all those people for whom nothing will be the same anymorelet us give them a piece of our hope
