Just as I was ready to experience severe depression from my lack of inspirationand had realized that my next editorial would be just a set of wishes for the New Yearand just as I was trying to float on storms and hurricanescame Eurobasket!!!
What a joy that was! Hellas, they say, is the second country next to Russia that has achieved to win European Championships in two sports, football and basketball. As a journalist wisely noticed though, we are one step further since we have also won the Eurovision Song Contest! Three out of three that is
Yesterday-the day of the Final and one day after the dramatic semi-final where half if not all Hellenes almost got a heart attack-a good friend of mine had his daughters christening. The invitation said that a cocktail party would follow at seven thirty. At seven oclock sharp the guests were already at the party, had drunk the champagne, eaten the salmon and caviar and had already formed a line to see the baby and congratulate the happy parents. A quarter to nine all guests had gone wishing that this beautiful girl will have all the luck not only for herself but also for the National Basketball Team!
At the White Tower thousands gathered in seconds after the end of the game, carrying the same flags, wearing the same clothes, singing the same songs, sharing the same smile
I was there toowith the christening souvenir in my handmy new lucky charm!
Annoula may you always be lucky and happy! Dad of Annoula, I hope you have videotapes last nights game! Way to Go Hellas!
