EVENTS AT SYDNEY FOR THE WELCOMING OF THE OLYMPIC FLAME. Source MPA
Large events will take place on June 4, 2004 in Sydney for the welcoming of the Olympic Flame. The events are organized by the Hellenic Associations in cooperation with the Australian Olympic Committee, in an effort to promote the Olympic Games to the Australian public. The preparations for the events have already begun in order everything to be ready on June 4th. At the evening of June 4, at the area where since 2 000 the statue of Spyros Louis have been placed, a representation of the lightening of the Olympic Flame will take place at a special altar, followed by a variety of cultural events. Five Hellenes from Australia will participate at the Flame Relay, while the events will include the planting of olive trees.

During the same night a great reception will be organized at the central hotel of the city, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Australian Olympic Committee.
