WASHINGTON, D.C.,November 4 --CEH leaders announced today that they are working with leaders in the U.S. Congress to generate a letter to Secretary of State Colin Powell, to be signed by numerous Members of Congress and Senators, expressing concern with todayοΏ½s announcement that the U.S. will now refer to FYROM as οΏ½the Republic of Macedonia.οΏ½

οΏ½This sudden, unilateral departure from the long-standing U.S., UN and EU policy, is extremely counterproductive.  Such actions run counter to GreeceοΏ½s outstanding efforts to bring peace and stability to the Balkans,οΏ½ said CEH leaders.

οΏ½We strongly encourage Greek-Americans across the country to contact their two Senators and their Member of Congress and ask them to sign the letter to Secretary Powell regarding FYROM.  CEH will be following-up with these offices with more information.  This letter will be circulated for signature when Senators and Members return to Washington, D.C. the week of November 15.οΏ½
