The Hellene businessman and honorary President of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria Stefanos P. Tamvakis was honored yesterday by the President of the Hellenic Republic with the Gold Cross of the Order of the Phoenix. Mr. Tamvakis was one of the 14 distinguished personalities from the areas of science, letters and arts that received honorary distinctions for 2005.

Mr. Stefanopoulos noted the significant action and work of Mr. Tamvakis for Hellenism in Egypt.

Stefanos P. Tamvakis was born in Alexandria on 1952 and is a well known businessman. For more than 25 years he is has developed public activities in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa, while for 12 years he was the President of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria.

Since 1995 and for 3 consecutive times he was elected at the position of SAE Vice-President, Coordinator for Asia-Africa SAE Region while since 2001 and up to date he holds the position of SAEοΏ½s Alternate President.

Mr. Tamvakis is also a member of the Board of the Foundation οΏ½Alexandros OnassisοΏ½.
